Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently drive the pile deep into the ground by applying a descending force and a downward blow to the pile while turning it.
CONSTITUTION: A suspending device is operated to lower a support frame 3 along a leader 1 in order to make the pile 20 bear the weights of an electric motor 4, a rotary frame 8 and the like secured to the frame 3, so that a descending force is applied to the pile 20. Then the motor 4 is operated to turn a rotary shaft 6 in the direction of an arrow A. The turning force is transmitted to the frame 8 through a cylindrical means 7, so that a clamp unit 16 and the like secured to the frame 8 are turned together with the shaft 6 in the A direction. Consequently, the pile 20 held between a piston rod 19 of a cylinder unit 18 and an annular plate 17 is turned together with the frame 8. On the other hand, the turn of the frame 8 causes an arm means 11 to rise along an inclined surface 13a of a projection 13, and so a weight means 9 is pivoted around a horizontal axis 10 to be in the state shown by a two- dotted chain line. When the projection 13 has passed the arm means 11 by the turn of the frame 8, the weight means 9 falls on the frame 8 to apply a downward blow to the pile 20.
