Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve a falling weight strength of hollow wire materials, by making the area of the post-spider part less than 1/2 of the spider part and thereafter enlarging it to more than 2/3 of the spider part and then reducing the area at the rand part. CONSTITUTION:When a thermoplastic resin is extruded into a hollow wire using a die, the area of the post-spider part is reduced to less than 1/2 of the spider part 1, then, it is enlarged to more than 2/3 of the spider part. Then, the area is again reduced at the rand part 4, 5 to form a hollow wire. The length of the reduced zone for one size reduction should not be too short. It should be more than five times longer than the distance between the outer mandrel 2 and the inner mandrel 3 of the reduced part. If the thermoplastic resin contains such inorganic fillers as talc, mica, clay or plate glass, a remakarble effect can be resulted.
