Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the influence of disturbing light by reducing the power consumption by photodetecting light that a light emitting element emits intermittently and by reading the photodetection output by varying the width of a signal driving the light emitting element.
CONSTITUTION: The output of oscillating circuit 28 drives driving circuit 29, whose output is applied via resistance 30 to transistor 31, which turns on light emitting diode 33. Light from diode 33 is photodetected by phototransistor 34, whose output is applied to latch circuit 36. The output of driving circuit 29, on the other hand, is applied to monostable vibrator 38 via inverter 37 to reduce its width and the output is applied to latch circuit 36 via inverter 39. Latch circuit 36 latches the photodetection output with narrow-width pulses, so that it will become hard to have the influence of disturbing light.
