Abstract

PURPOSE:To securely guide an IC to an IC socket by forming grooves to which the terminals of IC terminal group can drop on the IC gripping surface of the plates of an IC gripper formed of two plates and cutting the grooves thereon in an IC pushing direction. CONSTITUTION:Gripping groove plate 51 formed with shallow longitudinal grooves 52 to which respective one of the terminal group of the IC can drop in size for sufficiently gripping one IC on the gripping surfaces is provided at each lower half of two gripper plates 50. A slender groove 53 having short length is formed on the lower end of the groove 52 and extended to the lower edge of the groove plate 51. When a gripper 5 gripping the IC.A arrives at the socket B supplied from a conveyor to socket rails 8, it drives downwardly a cam 22, a roller 23 and a rod 24 to move down a pressing plate 25 provided at a block 6 and to thereby securely introduce the IC into the IC socket. Thus, the IC can be guided to the IC socket irrespective of the number of the terminals of the IC.
