CONSTITUTION: Continuous bundle 2 consisted of ceramics and/or metallic fibers is gripped by gripping rod 1, put in sheath 3, and placed in settling vessel 4. Matrix powder of ≥1 kind among ceramics, metal and plastic is floated or dispersed in a liq. or gaseous medium in vessel 4 from charging hole 5. By vertically swinging sheath 3, the lower edge of bundle 2 is spread in the medium, and particles of the powder penetrate each gap between the fibers. By slowly raising sheath 3 and successively supplying the particles to the medium from charging hole 5, the gaps of bundle 2 are filled with the matrix powder to form a composite preform.
