PURPOSE:To prevent reduction in travelling accuracy accompanied by tremors and vibration due to electric discharge machining and so on by arranging a rolling surface for balls in a load region in the diagonal portion of a square main spindle. CONSTITUTION:Rolling surfaces 201a, 201b for balls 206 in a load region are arranged in parallel with each other in the longitudinal direction of a main spindle in a diagonal portion of the spindle 34. The rolling surface has the radius of curvature slightly larger than the outside diameter of the ball 206. A bearing case 202a is fixed to a column 20 with a bolt 207. Since the rolling surfaces 201a, 201b are curved, they provide automatic aligning, preventing the offsetting of the ball, while maintaining an excellent contact. Furthermore, there is no occurrence of skewing for the ball contact, making it possible to provide smooth rolling.
