Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent ink droplets from being atomized or foamed due to the collision of the ink droplets by a method wherein the angle between the penetrating passage of nonrecording ink droplets and the slant surface of a catcher inclined toward the penetrating direction of the droplets is set to be not greater than a predetermined value. CONSTITUTION:The catcher 11 for catching the ink droplets 5 is provided in such a manner that the angle alpha between the penetrating passage of the nonrecording ink droplets 5 and the slant surface thereof inclined toward the penetrating direction of the droplets 5 becomes not greater than 20 deg.. The catcher 11 together with a recovering pan 9 constitutes the gutter 7. Accordingly, since the angle between the penetrating passage of the droplets 5 and the slant surface of the catcher 11 is very small, the droplets 5 are trapped while softly contacting with the catcher 11 instead of colliding against the catcher 11, the ink droplets 5 are prevented from being atomized or foamed.
