Abstract
PURPOSE: To eliminate twist of fibers as foreigh matters, reduce torque at the time of cutting, and prevent drop of pumping efficiency owing to turbulent flow by forming the inflow passage approx. triangly and making the flowing-in at the inlet of impeller a laminar flow.
CONSTITUTION: Profile of suction passage 4a at the suction side plate 4 is formed triangly, in which every two adjoining members are connected with a proper arc of circle and edges in the neighborhood of the top of said triangle are formed in a cutting edge 4b, and the oversurface is provided with grooves 4c, 4d with a proper depth aslant in the rotating direction of the impeller in the part starting from a position the diameter is a little larger than the periphery of the suction passage 4a and ending at the periphery. These grooves are excavated at the top and middle point of evry triangle. Owing to this suction passage with triangle profile, inflowing water will not make any convolution but flow into the impeller 3 laminarly, so that fibers in the liquid as foreign matters flow plainly without any twist, that will provide possibility of cutting easily by a low power with the cutting edge 4b on the stationary side and the cutting edge 3a on the rotating side. Besides this, elimination of turbulent flow contributes also to preventing the pumping efficiency from sinking.
