Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent or reduce a fluctuation of length of an optical path that is caused by an expansion of wire and at the same time avoid the loss of parallelism of a carriage, by stretching out two or more pieces of wires at the right or left side of a movable wire pulley. CONSTITUTION:A part of the wire 8 of a picture reading/scanning device is sealed to the carriage 15, stretched out to the movable wire pulley 9 and then folded by the fixed wire guide 20 to be stretched up to the pulley 9. The wire parts 821 and 822 of the wire 8 stretched and sealed in two pieces to the pulley 9 are distributed across each end of the pulley 9, and the wire part 83 stretched at the opposite side to the parts 821 and 822 is wound round the pulley 9 and between the parts 821 and 822. Then the carriages 15 and 16 are connected to each other via the parts 821 and 822 to reduce the change of distance between the carriages 15 and 16. At the same time, an offset is secured for the rotational moment affecting the wire parts 821-83 and 822-83 each. Thus a parallelism can be held between the carriages 15 and 16.
