Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform machining operations of boring for a through hole and chamfering for its both end parts, by providing a pair of chamfering tool edges in a quill having a boring tool edge on its periphery and giving one time reciprocating motion to the quill.
CONSTITUTION: In the periphery of a quill 14, a boring tool edge T1 and a pair of chamfering tool edges T2, T3 arranged in positions separated in an opposite direction to each other from a mounting position of said boring tool edge T1 by a prescribed distance longer than length of a through hole Wa of a work W. The quill 14 is inserted into the through hole Wa in such a manner that said boring tool edge T1 is located in the through hole Wa and one chamfering tool edge T3 is situated at the other side of the through hole Wa, then center axis lines of the through hole Wa and the quill 14 are aligned. Subsequently the quill 14 is axially moved to a prescribed side to perform chamfering work for one end part, then the quill 14 is successively moved axially to the opposite side to continuously perform boring work and chamfering work for the other end part.
