Abstract

PURPOSE:To absorb and separate fluorine content from waste water at a high efficiency, by adjusting the pH value of the waste water containing fluorine compounds, and contacting the waste water with a chelating resin. CONSTITUTION:Waste water containing fluorine compounds is adjusted at pH 7 or lower with a mineral acid, and contacted with a chelating resin to absorb and separate the fluorine content from the waste water. In case where the original waste water contains free fluorine also, the free fluorine is preparatively precipitated and separated as calcium fluoride by addition of a calcium compound, and the pretreated waste water is adjuted at pH 7 or lower with a mineral acid. In this case, the fluoine content in the dissolved calcium fluoride and the other fluoride compounds is absorbed and separated from the waste water with the chelating resin.
