Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a foam with excellent adsorptivity, by forming a foam by the dispersion of an inert gas into a mixture of an active hydrogen-containing compound, an organic isocyanate compound, a catalyst, etc. and an adsorbent, and hot molding the foam.
CONSTITUTION: An inert gas is homogeneously dispersed into a mixture of a compound having at least two active hydrogen atoms, an organic polyisocyanate compound, a catalyst, a foam stabilizer, a foaming aid, etc. and an adsorbent with mechanical agitation, to form a stable foam. Then the foam is hot molded. The catalyst used is preferably a catalyst which does not accelerate the urethane reaction so much at a temperature ≤60°C but accelerates the reaction at a temperature ≥70°C, e.g., nickel acetylacetonate or nickel diphenylnitrilediacetyl acetonate. The adsorbent is active carbon, acid clay, silica gel, activated alumina, etc.
