Abstract
PURPOSE: An external anti-inflammatory and analgesic drug of the ointment type having a percutaneous absorption property equal to the oral one, and prepared by incorporating a hydrophilic medium with an absorption accelerator, e.g. a monoester of a higher fatty acid, a gelling agent, and flufenamic acid as an active constituent.
CONSTITUTION: A medium consisting of a mono- to trihydric aliphatic lower alcohol and water is incorporated with an absorption accelerator selected from a monoester of a fatty acid, e.g. isopropyl myristate or isopropyl palmitate, formed from an 8W18C monofatty acid and a 1W5C monohydric aliphatic alcohol, a 10W 20C monohydric aliphatic alcohol, e.g. cetyl alcohol or stearyl alcohol, and a 10W 20C monofatty acid, e.g. lauric acid or linoleic acid, a gelling agent, e.g. MC, and flufenamic acid to give the titled external drug. The pH is then adjusted to 5W7. The resultant drug is capable of inhibiting side effects on digestive organs and improving the remedial effects.
