CONSTITUTION:The rotary machine has a housing 4 consisting of a cylinder 1 airtightly closed by end plates 2 and 3 at upper and lower end parts, and a rotary body 5 is rotatably and axially mounted in the housing 4 by a lower bearing (illustration omitted) and a magnetic bearing 7 within the housing 4. In this case, between the stationary side magnetic bearing 7a of the magnetic bearing 7 and the back surface of the upper end plate 2, there is fixed the base portion 9a of a vibration suppressing cylinder 9 made of a metal material having small thermal expansion such as aluminum or a stainless steel, in place of the conventional vibration suppressing member 8.
