Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease the stress to be generated in the welding bellows used in the site where relative displacement is large, increase their fatigue strength, and improve their reliability without reducing their characteristics by reducing the thickness and span length of the bellows core for the central part.
CONSTITUTION: The welding bellows with inter-end face distance L, bore Di, outer diameter Do, and average diameter Dm are welded with the bellows core 1 with thickness (t) and span length (s) by means of the welding beads 2A and 2B and the mounting metal fixtures 3A and 3B are jointed on both ends. When the bellows receive large both ends relative displacement in the central axis and its horizontal directions, the part nearer both ends generates large tension compressed displacement and stresses. As the bellows reach both ends ot the central part, the stresses to be generated of the whole bellows can be uniformalized by reducing the thickness of the bellows core 1 from t1 to t0 and the span length from s1 to s0. As a result, the stresses to be generated of the bellows can be decreased, their fatigue strength be increased, and their reliablity be improved without reducing their characteristics.
