Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the trouble in heating-up and restart the production of a glass fiber in a short time smoothly, by discharging a molten glass with a heating-up bushing in the initial time of melting, and using a bushing for preparing the glass fiber after the stabilization of the material composition. CONSTITUTION:A glass material is fed into a newly constructed or cooled and repaired glass melting furnace, and the temperature is slowly increased to melt the material. In the initial stage of the melting, a heating-up bushing having 2-10 large holes in the long direction provided at the bottom is used to discharge a molten glass in the same amount as in the stable operation. After the material composition is stabilized, the heating-up bushing is exchanged with a bushing for preparing a glass fiber to draw the glass fiber. Thus, a broken fiber due to the variation in material composition and the flowing out of small fragments of refractory materials can be prevented, and a stable operation can be started in a short time.
