Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:N-substituted derivatives of moranoline of formula I (R is amino, formula I, III, IV, V and so on) and their acid adducts.
USE: A plant growth regulator: they show much stronger activities of growth retardation, growth acceleration and root formation acceleration than moranoline of formula I where R is H. They are used as an agent for preserving cut flowers, herbicide, crop yield increaser and freshness retainer and accelerator for branch jointing.
PREPARATION: Moranoline of formula I where R is H, in which the hydroxyl may be protected with acetyl, benzoyl or benzyl group, is made to react with an active alkylating reagent such as an alkyl halide or epoxide to produce the compound of formula I.
