Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled membrane with a high oxygen loading amount as well as high strength and a long life by a method wherein an enzyme is supported on a porous layers and, thereafter, the formed membrane is subjected to heat treatment at a temp. and for a time capable of imparting plastic deformation thereto without loading activity of said enzyme. CONSTITUTION:The enzyme filling into the porous layer is carried out by an immersion method or a pressure filtering method to be enclosed in pores within the porous layer. A temp. in filtering under pressure is adjusted to a temp. range not deactivating said enzyme. To the obtained fixed enzyme membrane, the heat treatment is applied at a temp. and for a time capable of imparting plastic deformation thereto without losing activity of said enzyme. Therefore, a heat treating condition is different according to a kind (material quality) of the membrane and a kind of the enzyme but, for example, said heat treatment is carried out at 40-80 deg.C for about 3-30min and it is most pref. to carry out in warm water. The fixed enzyme membrane is shrunk by the heat treatment and pores themselves are also shrunk and, thereby, anchor effect is more developed and the enzyme can be prevented from being detached from an interior of said pores.
