Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve safety of a sun follower by improving conventional sun followers which have narrow tiltable angle limits of the mirrors due to intention of only following the sun, and enabling the mirror to be rotated toward a horizontal position in order to decrease the wind pressure applied to the mirror when the wind is strong.
CONSTITUTION: When the mechanism is applied to a heliostat, to follow the sun a revolution motor 14 is driven and its turning force is transmitted through a reduction gear 15 and a revolution pinion 16 to a revolution gear 25 secured to one side of a revolution arm 24 in order to move a revolution slider 13 along the circular arc of the circular arc-shaped revolution arm 24. Thereby, the central point M of a ball 17 at the lower end of a rod 5 is set at a given position according to the altitude of the sun. Then, a rotation motor 22 is driven to regulate the rod 5 so that the sun is positioned on an extension line from the rod 5. On the other hand, when the mirror 7 is placed horizontally in order to avoid a strong wind, the revolution motor 14 and the rotation motor 22 are driven to operate the rod 5 so that it stands vertically.
