Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease the mirror arranging intervals between heliostats by arranging a large number of heliostats each havang a rectangular mirror from east to west and making one side of said rectangular mirror of each heliostat approximately parallel to the east-to-west direction.
CONSTITUTION: Each heliostat is inclined by the latitude ϕ of its installing point on the north-to-south line, has an axis 1 parallel to the earth's axis and movably supports a rod 5 on the end B of a rotating arm 2 which rotates about a fixed point A on the axis 1. A reflecting mirror 7 is tiltably supported on the end of a horizontal support 10 secured to a vertical support 11 and vertically mounted on the rod 5 at said supporting point M. The sunbeams reflected by the reflecting mirror 7 are collected by a heat collector 9. In this case the horizontal support 10 is fixed to the vertical support 11, being inclined at a proper angle with respect to the north-to- south line 12 so that the axis 29 of rotation of a fork 21 supporting the rod 5 with a shaft 22 is made parallel to the north-to-south line 12. Thereby, the sides of the mirror 7 which are on the east-to-west direction side are made constantly parallel to the east-to-west direction.
