Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a composition having high sensitivity and high shelf stability, causing no heat fog and capable of giving both negative and positive images by using o-quinone, a Co(III) ammine complex or a Co (III) amine complex and binder as principal components. CONSTITUTION:This composition consists of o-quinone, a Co(III) ammine complex or a Co (III) amine complex in an amount of about 0.1-10mol per mol. of o- quinone and a binder. The amount of the binder is preferably about 80-90wt% of the amount of the composition. The composition is applied to a support to form an about 1-20mum thick layer. By exposing the layer to visible light, the o-quinone is converted into a heat-unreactive substance by a photochemical change. The exposed layer is then heated to 70-150 deg.C, whereby the Co(III) complex reacts with the o-quinone in the nonexposed part to give a colored positive image. By utilizing a basic substance such as ammonia generated by the heating, an image can be formed on other recording member such as a diazo copying material.
