Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the thermal shock resistance and mechanical impact resistance of a ceramic combustion chamber by providing a metal outer cylinder concentrically on the outside of a high-density ceramic liner and also a heat insulation layer between the liner and the outer cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: An almost similar shape of a metal outer cylinder 2 is concentrically provided at a given interval on the outside of a cylindrically integral type high- density ceramic liner 1 made of a high-strength heat-resistant ceramic material, e.g., silicone carbide, etc. And, a low-density ceramic heat insulation layer 3, e.g., of LDS moldable material, etc., is filled into between the liner 1 and the outer cylinder 2 to form a laminated structure, and then covered with a casing 5. Then, plural air holes 6 and an ignition plug-fitting hole 8, which thrust into the outer cylinder 2, the heat insulation layer 3, and the liner 1, are provided.
