Abstract
PURPOSE: To filter with high efficiency difficultly filterable muddy water to obtain cakes of low water content by increasing the pressure of forcing a crude solution in response to the thickness of a cake to be produced and forcing the crude solution into the filter under a forcing pressure adapted to the thickness of the cake to be produced.
CONSTITUTION: The thickness of a cake to be produced is indirectly detected from the integrated flow quantity of a crude solution due to a flow quantity transmitter 7 arranged between a press-in tank 6 and a pressure filter 1. When the press-in pressure becomes greater than the set pressure determined depending upon the cake thickness, a motor 4 is stopped. While the motor 4 is in a stop, the press-in tank 6 forces the crude solution in the pressure filter 1 by the operation of compressed air 11. A control panel 8 connected to the motor constitutes a press-in pressure variable supply device 9 together with a press-in pump 5, and varies the press-in pressure in correspondence to the variation in the cumulative filtrate discharge quantity and increases the press-in pressure stepwise in response to the production of the cake. By this procedure, clogs of the filter cloth is reduced and the exfoliation of the cake is improved.
