Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve those properties of wear-proof and heat-resistance by baking epoxy resin onto the top land area of the external piston face of an engine wherein those scale-like aluminum and molybdenum bisulfide are scattered. CONSTITUTION:A piston 2 is built up by a top land 2a and a skirt 2b. A top ring 5, a second ring 6, and an oil ring 7 are fixed around into the upper peripheral face. The entire surface of the piston and the surface of the piston and the surface of the top land are coated with coating layers 14, 15 especially on the top land 14. The coating 14 is formed by baking epoxy resin 18 wherein scale-like aluminum 16 and molybdenum bisulfide 17 are scattered. Though the thick coating nearly fills up a clearance DELTAH, it causes no heat deformation.
