Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve the improvement in flexibility and high density characteristic of cables by applying a resin film only to the top or bottom surface of each optical fiber and forcing the most of the resin film between the adjoining portions of said optical fibers.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of optical fibers A which are put in a parallel contact plate and a resin film B are mutually closely contacted by a heating means to obtain an optical fiber tape. At this time, the foregoing resin film B is applied only to the top or the bottom surface of each optical fiber A and the most of the resin film B is forced between the adjoining portions D of said optical fibers A. As a result, the optical fiber tape becomes of extremely thin type and this enables flexibility to be sufficiently secured and the cable of high density to be obtained.
