Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress the decomposition of the active component of an antiasthmatic suppository caused by the base of the suppository, and to improve the stability of the suppository, by adding a specific stabilizing agent to a specific benzyl alcohol derivative having bronchodilating activity.
CONSTITUTION: A stable suppository composed of (A) a base, (B) 3-formylamino- 4-hydroxyl-α-[N-(1-methyl-2-p-methoxyphenylethyl)aminomethyl]benzyl alcohol.1/ 2 fumarate monohydrate (BD-40A), and (C) a stabilizing agent selected from polyvinyl pyrrolidone, cyclodextrin, dextran, and magnesium metasilicate aluminate. The weight ratio of (B)/(C) is pref. 1/1W200. Since the effective component is formed in the form of suppository, it can be easily administered even to an asthmatic patient under fit or to infants.
