Abstract

PURPOSE:A composition for the mouth having improved bitter and puckery taste, refreshing feeling, and juice effect, containing a fatty acid ester of one sugar alcohol or a mixture of two or more sugar alcohols. CONSTITUTION:A mouth composition for toothpaste, tooth liquid, etc., blended with 0.1-5wt% based on the total amount of a fatty acid ester of one or a mixture of two or more compounds shown by formula (n is 1-6), e.g., maltital, maltotriital. The degree of esterification of the fatty acid ester of the sugar alcohol shown by the formula is 0.3-1.5 per glucose residue and the ester preferably has a monoester content not less than 60wt%. The composition has high stability to heat, acid and alkali, and is suitable for use in the mouth because made of maltitol, etc., which are unlikely to ferment. The composition can be blended with a bactericide, enzyme, ionic active ingredient, e.g., fluorine compounds, having improved storage stability.
