Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a mechanism wherein a supersonic probe is kept pressed against the object to be examined with simple construction and contant pressure, by making the supersonic probe contact with the object by the effect of constant torque of DC motor.
CONSTITUTION: Supersonic probe 6 moves with the pressing rod 9 thru the reduction gears 3.4 and rack 5 driven by the rotation of DC motor 2 applied by a constant voltage lower than the rated value. Contact of the probe 6 against the object to be examined 10 stops the rotation of the motor 2, however, the constant application of low voltage generates a torque of constant value which enables the probe keep contact with the object 10 with constant pressure by a simple construction, and subsequently, good performance of supersonic flaw detection is available.
