Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the entire roll body from bending, by covering the outer surface of the roll shaft with plural pieces of segmented sleeves, and by making the intermediate sleeve to be freely slidable in the axial direction of the roll shaft. CONSTITUTION:The outer surface of the roll shaft 1 is covered with segmented sleeves 2, 2 ... which are formed into a corrugated type or the oblique type; the segmented sleeve at one or both ends is fixed to the roll shaft 1 by means of welding etc., so as to be unrotative and undetachable. Besides, some clearance is provided between adjoining two sleeves. In case of using this sleeved roll for carrying the hot metallic billet, plural sleeves carry the hot metallic billet without rotating round the roll shaft; and the unfixated intermediate sleeves are freely slidable in the axial direction of the roll shaft within the distance equivalent to the intersleeve clearance, so that the movement of the intermediate sleeves prevents the entire roll body from bending, even in case of different expansion caused between faces on two sides of the roll shaft being heated at its face from only one side.
