Abstract

PURPOSE: To operationally drive a moving member and retain it in a prescribed position through an identical mechanism, by providing a means to control the direction and quantity of energization of an electromagnet for a stator.
CONSTITUTION: When a moving member located on a left side is caused to move rightward, coils 2a, 2b are energized so that the left poles of stators 1a, 1b become N-poles. At that time, the moving member 3 repulse the magnetic poles and attract right poles, namely, the moving member suffers from a force in the direction of an arrow A to move rightward. If the direction of energization of an electromagnet is reversed, the moving member 3 moves leftward. Springs 4a, 4b function to retain the moving member 3 in a position at an appropriate distance from the center of the magnetic pole faces of the stators 1a, 1b. The distance is necessary to cause a driving force when the electromagnet is energized. Even if the energization is stopped, the position of the moving member displaced is retained by a magnetic force caused between the electromagnet of the moving member and the cores of the stators.
