Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a flame-retardant rigid urethane foam with low smoking economically, by blending an organic isocyanate with polyol, a blowing agent, and rice or wheat hulls.
CONSTITUTION: In the production of a rigid urethane foam from an organic isocyanate, polyol, and a blowing agent as main raw materials, rise and/or wheat hulls are mixted with the raw material. The ratio of chemical equivalent of the organic isocyanate to polyol is preferably 5:1W1:1. The rice or wheat hulls are preferably dried and grinded to particle diameters of not more than 1.0mm. 5wt. or more based on the raw material of the hulls improves flame retardancy and the prevention of black smoke, and especially 10W30wt% of the hulls is desirable.
