Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the deviation of pushing pressure by simplifying clamping operation by a method wherein the clamping of the circumference of an ion exchange membrane is conducted by a screw system.
CONSTITUTION: A cation exchange membrane 6 is arranged on a fixed stand 12. Above the cation exchange membrane 6 there is provided a gasket 9. Above the gasket 9 there is provided an anion exchange membrane 7. A spacer 8 is inserted into a desalting or a concentrating chamber which is formed between the anion exchange membrane 7 and the cation exchange membrane 6. A screw cylinder 1 is provided inside a cylindrical outer frame 2, interlocked with a clamping frame 3 and clamped by a screw system. The cation exchange membrane 6 is arranged in a position corresponding to a liquid-inflow hole 10 and a liquid-outflow hole 11. An anode 5 is provided at upper part, and a cathode 4 is provided at lower part. By this mechanism, the desalting chamber, the concentrating chamber, etc. having uniform thickness can be formed, and the workability is raised very much.
