NEW MATERIAL:4,5,6,7-Dehydro PGI1 derivative of formula VI: (R1 is H, 1W12C alkyl, 3W10C cycloalkyl, 7W12C aralkyl, phenyl group, etc.; R2 is 1W12C alkyl, or alkyl, 3W10C cycloalkyl, or 7W12C aralkyl group which may have 0W5 oxygen atoms linked to any positions).
EXAMPLE: 4,5,6,7-Dehydro PGI1-methyl ester.
USE: Medicines similar to PGI2 having blood platelet antiagglutinative, gastric acid secretion inhibitory, and peripheral vasodilator actions. The structural instability is eliminated while retaining the 6,9α-epoxy structure which is important to PGI2.
PROCESS: A compound obtained from a PGF derivative by the singlet oxygen is oxidized, cyclized, and deacetylated to give the compound of formula VI.
