Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain good quality and neat cans which could not have been obtained with soldered cans, etc., at a high speed and low cost by bonding the side seams of shells, shells and end plates by means of the specific adhesive agents and by a specified method.
CONSTITUTION: Suitable primers are coated to the bonding portions, etc. of various steel plates (desirably chemically treated steel plates) in order to make adhesion faster. The shell side seams are bonded by using nylon-base adhesive agents (nylon 6, 8, etc. of melting points 100 to 300°C or copolymers of these and polyamide) by known methods such as lock seam or lap seam. Coiling and bonding of the shells an end plates is accomplished by means of water soluble adhesive agents of polyurethane as an essential component and by using ordinary lining machines. The mutual adhesion of the nylon and polyurethane at the overlap portions of the shells and top plates considerably improve leakage preventing effect. Problems such as of waste water, etc. in soldering methods may be eliminated and the cans are readily obtained.
