Abstract

PURPOSE:A cosmetic for the skin or the hair, non-irritant to the skin, and containing an ester of a polyether polyol and a fatty acid selected from higher straight- chain saturated fatty acids, higher branched saturated fatty acids, and higher hydroxy saturated fatty acids. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic composition for skin or hair, non-irritant to the skin, and giving comfortable feeling to the skin, etc., containing an ester derived from (A) a polyether polyol of formula (n<1-3> are 0-20; m<1-3> are 0-20; n<1>+n<2>+n<3>+ m<1>+m<2>+m<3>=3-70), e.g. Adeka polyether G Series (a product of Asahi Denka Kogyo K.K.) and (B) a fatty acid selected from (a) straight-chain saturated higher fatty acids (e.g. octanoic acid), (b) branched saturated higher fatty acids (e.g. 2-ethylhexanoic acid) and (c) saturated higher hydroxy fatty acid (e.g. 12-hydroxystearic acid). The hydrophilic property and the viscosity of the composition can be adjusted by selecting the fatty acid.
