Abstract

PURPOSE: To convert soluble heavy metals into stable and insoluble substances by adding the viscose rayon factory effluent to slurried industrial wastes containing soluble and insoluble heavy metals.
CONSTITUTION: Viscose rayon factory effluent is added to slurried industrial wastes containing soluble heavy metals such as NiSO4, Cr(NO3)3, CuCl2, etc., a part or all of which are dissolved, and insoluble heavy metals such as PbO, FeO, CdO, etc., in such a proportion that pH becomes 10 or less, preferably 6W9. Thus, heavy metals-containing industrial wastes can be treated with the viscose rayon factory effluent more safely, more stably, and more exactly than with alkaline chemicals, converting the heavy metals into insoluble harmless substances.
