Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize the independent setting of the oscillation frequency by attaching the semiconductor direct oscillator element to one end of the microstrip line forming the oscillator, installing the 1st and 2nd dielectric resonators near the line and then varying the oscillation frequency of these oscillators.
CONSTITUTION: Dielectric substrate 1 is provided on metal support stage 9 which doubles the earth conductor and the heat sink of oscillator element 3, and microstrip line 2 is formed at the center part of the substrate. Then semiconductor direct oscillator element 3 is connected electrically to one end of line 2, and the DC bias is applied to element 3 from terminal 11 via low pass filter 10 along with the other end used as output terminal 6. At the same time, dielectric resonator 4 of the TE mode featuring the electric field combination with line 2 is provided on substrate 1 and at the area distant away from element 3 by about π/2 in terms of the electric angle, along with resonator 5 featuring the double frequency as high as resonator 4 provided on substrate 1 at the position apart from resonator 4 by an appropriate distance. And disk-type metal plates 7 and 8 which can move up and down freely are distributed in opposition to each other over resonators 4 and 5. Thus the resonance frequency can be varied for resonators 4 and 5.
