Abstract

PURPOSE: To economize raw material and decrease the number of parts required of machining, by extruding a hollow square piece and slicing the piece to a prescribed thickness to provide the main body of a load cell.
CONSTITUTION: A hollow square piece 1 is manufactured by extrusion. The piece 1 is sliced to a prescribed thickness to provide a main body workpiece 8 comprising a stationary strut part 2, a movable strut part 3 and movable arms 4, 5. Arc-shaped recesses 9 for reducing the thickness of parts to be fitted with strain gauges 18, securing tapped holes 16 and receiving plate mounting holes 15 are provided by machining. The main body 17 of a load cell is thus manufactured.
