Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent large ice forces from acting on a deicing dike by forming a slant ice-crashing wall on the outside surface of a deicing body, folding drift ice at the wall top, and causing the folded ice to climb over the wall.
CONSTITUTION: A petroleum excavation equipment A is surrounded by inner and outer deicing bodies 1 incorporating balast tanks. The bodies 1 are so sunk that their top portions emerge from the sea surface b, to form a deicing dike E. A slant ice-crashing wall 1c is formed on the outside surface of at least the outer one of the deicing bodies 1. Antiskid projections 1g are projected from the bottom surfaces of the bodies 1 to prevent the deicing dike E, which consists of the bodies 1 connected with each other, from being easily moved by the pushing force due to the movement of fast ice or drift ice. Thus petroleum excavation can be conducted safely even in icy seas.
