Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform good variable-power copying with a simple constitution by changing over the speed differences of the relative speed of the original and solid state scanning element and the recording paper conveying speed of the write part. CONSTITUTION:A solid state scanning element 18 such as CCD or photo diode array which performs photoelectric conversion, self-scans in the main scanning direction perpendicular to the moving direction of an optical system at each unit time and outputs the electric signal for each of one scanning line is provided to an orginal read part 11 and is connected to the writing stylus part 26 of an original write part 20 by way of a sampling converting-signal processing part 19. With this arrangement, the images of the original 14 lighted by a light source 12 are imaged, photoelectrically converted and scanned by the solid state scanning element 18, after which they are sampled by the sampling clock of the period corresponding to the original size in the sampling converting-signal processing part 19 and are inputted as the signal of a fixed signal number irrespective of the original size into the writing stylus part 26, by which electrostatic latent images are formed on recording paper 21. Hence, the copies of a uniform size may be obtained from the originals of different sizes without machanical change-over of the image optical system.
