Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a resin having deodorizing property by reacting a base resin, e.g. styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer, etc., having chelate-forming functional groups, e.g. iminodiacetic acid group, etc., with a metal ion, e.g. copper, etc.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A base resin, e.g. a styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer, an epoxy resin, a phenolic resin, a vinyl chloride resin, an acrylic resin, a vinylidene chloride resin and/or a urea resin, etc., having chelate-forming functional groups, e.g. an amino acid, iminoacetic acid, iminoacetic acid, iminodiacetic acid, iminopropionic acid and/or iminodipropionic acid, etc., is reacted with (B) metal ions, e.g. mercury, cadmium, zinc, copper, silver, gold, platinum, etc., to give a chelate resin. The chelate resin is preferably used together with other resins in the form of pellets, sheets, fibers granules, etc.
