Abstract
PURPOSE: To recover silver from bleaching and fixing waste water effectively by a waste water regenerating method in which a sulfite is added to the waste water before or during electric dialysis.
CONSTITUTION: The ion exchange membrane electric dialyzer 21 is made up by arranging alternately the anion exchange membrane 24 and the cation exchange membrane 25 between the cathode 22 and the anode 23 to form the cathodic compartment 26, the plural concentration compartments 28, the plural desalination compartments 29, and the anodic compartment 27. The regeneration of the fixing waste water for recovery of pure silver is carried out by flowing the photographic bleaching and fixing waste water to which is added a sulfite to the desalination compartment 29 and by flowing the silver-dissolved aqueous solution to the concentration compartment 28 for performing electric dialysis. The addition of a sulfite to the photographic bleaching and fixing waste water is made before or during electric dialysis, and the sulfite used includeds sodium sulfite, sodium hydrogen sulfite, etc., in either solids or aqueous solution.
