USE: Red pigments.
PROCESS: 6, 14-Dihydro-5-H-pyrido [1, 2': 1, 2]-pyrimido [4, 5-b] acridine-7, 15- dione (D) of formula II is dehydrogenated in the presence of an oxidizing agent, e.g. nitrobenzene or dichlorodicyano-b-benzoquinone, in a liquid medium, e.g. methanol or xylene, in an amount of 3W20 times that of D at 60W200°C for 0.5W 3 hr.
