Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a high-quality polyolefin having a high bulk density efficiently, by polymerizing an olefin in the presence of a specific catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: An olefin is polymerized in the presence of a catalyst comprising (A) a product of reaction between (a) a solid product, obtained by bringing one mole of a magnesium alkoxide into contact with 0.4W9.0 moles of an aluminum halide in a solvent of a 1W8C straight or branched chain aliphatic alcohol at 0W 150°C for 15 min or longer to distill off the alcohol, and by pulverizing at room temperature for 0.5 to 10 hr, and (b) an alkylaluminum in a 5W10C hydrocarbon solvent at -10 to 100°C for 0.1 to 5 hr and then a titanium halide at 0 to 200°C for 0.5 to 5 hr and (B) an organoaluminum compound, at normal temperature to 200°C and at normal pressure to 50 kg/cm2.
