Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress occurrence of an eddy current stably at all times by an arrangement wherein channels directional to the water level are formed oppositely to the upper stream side wall of an inlet pipe for suction water tank, and a cross beam floating partly on the water surface and moving vertically according to the water level is provided between the channels.
CONSTITUTION: An inlet pipe 2 is sunk in a suction water tank 1, and channels 5, 5' are provided oppositely to the side of the inlet pipe 2 on the upper stream of the suction water tank 1. A columned cross beam 6 floating partly on the water surface and moving vertically according to the water level is provided between the channels 5, 5'. Since the cross beam 6 is columned, it can be moved vertically so quickly as rotating along the channels 5, 5' according to a fluctuation of the water level, when water in the tank 1 is pumped up through the inlet pipe 2. Even in case the water level sharply flucturats in the suction water tank 1, an eddy current can be prevented stably from occurrence at all times accordingly.
