Abstract
PURPOSE:To accomplish higher accuracy of the standard while extending the life and reducing the size by constructing a optical path provided between a light pumping source and a resonance cell receiving the light with an optical fiber without use of any lens. CONSTITUTION:A lamp house 29 is arranged to face a hollow resonator 25 at a given space to form a rubidium gas cell type atomic frequency standard. In this arrangement, a lamp 21 and a reflector 23 are provided in the lamp house while an excitation coil 22 is wound around the house 29. A gas cell 26 and a solar cell are housed in the resonator 25 so that light from the lamp 21 runs toward the cell 26 through the open end of the house. Here, a plurality of optical fiber bundles 20 having a refractive index in the surrounding area less than that in the central part are arranged in the optical path to transmit light to the cell effectively. In addition, the fiber tapered as shown by 30 could further improve the stability.
