Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the size in the direction of a radius by vertically overlapping two tap selectors whose number of contacts is half that of a conventional tap selectors and performing the connection of the selectors by switches.
CONSTITUTION: Tap selectors TS1 and TS2, wherein a group of even numbers and odd numbers of tap contacts are arranged in the forward direction of rotation on a single plane, and tap selectors TS3 and TS4, wherein a group of the same tap contacts is arranged in the opposite rotating direction with respect to the tap selectors TS1 and TS2, are vertically arranged. The tap selectors TS1 and TS3, or TS2 and TS4 which are connected to switches SA or SB are fixed to the same shaft and driven, respectively. Furthermore, the switches SA and SB which switch the circuits for the taps for forward and opposite directions of rotation and two polarity-change switches SC and SD are arranged at the bottom of a switch chamber SE. In this constitution, the size in the direction of the radius of the tap selector can be approximately halved from that of a conventional tap selector.
