Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:4-( 5-Trifluoromethyl-2-pyridylthio )phenoxypropionic acid derivative of formula I [X is H or Halogen; Y is OH, -O-cation, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkenyloxy, cyclohexyloxy, (halogen-substituted) phenoxy, (halogen-substituted) phenylthio, etc.; n is 0, 1, or 2].
EXAMPLE: α-[ 4-( 5-Trifluoromethyl-2-pyridylthio )phenoxy ]propionic acid ethyl ester.
USE: Herbicide.
PROCESS: For example, the reaction of a compound II with a compound III (Y' is a group Y except -O-cation) in a solvent such as ketone, in the presence of an alkaline substance (e.g. NaOH or KOH) gives the compound I wherein Y is Y'.
