Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the blooming with a high contrast and high impression maintained for the video screen by giving the amplitude compression only to the video signals at the high-luminance area of a minor area.
CONSTITUTION: The serial circuit of diode 9 and resistance 10 is connected between output side terminal A and reference potential point B of resistance 4, and capacitor 11 is connected in parallel to resistance 10. The time constant of the parallel circuit of resistance 10 and capacitor 11 is set to such level so as to secure the high and low impedance to the low and high band components of the video signal respectively. In this constitution, diode 9 conducts to have clipping up to the bias level through capacitor 11 and thus to carry out the amplitude compression at the high-luminance area such as the character part where the signal of such amplitude as to feature a high frequency excedding the bias level exists in the video signals. While no comprssion is given to the area of the high-luminance and large-area, and thus the signal is applied to CRT1 with large amplitude maintained. As a result, a high-contrast and high imprssion can be maintained on the picture screen, at the same time ensuring a high contrast even at the character part to present a beautiful screen.
