Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the analyzing sensitivity of a non-dispersion vacuum ultraviolet ray mercury analyzer by employing mercury atomic spectrum beam having special wavelength in vacuum ultraviolet ray region and a photoelectric tube or photoelectric multiplier having the sensitivity for only the vacuum ultraviolet ray region light. CONSTITUTION:A light source 1 for irradiating mercury atomic spectrum beam of 184.9nm is turned on by a power supply 2. An atomic absorption cell 3 consists of a cell 4 flowing mercury atomic vapor therethrough and gas chamber 5, 6 or vacuum chamber for substituting gas. The cell 4 measures and absorbs the atom of the mercury. The gas chambers 5, 6 or vacuum chamber remove oxygen molecules from an optical path from the light source 1 to a photoelectric converter 7. The converter 7 has a sensitivity only for the vacuum ultraviolet ray region light such as, for example, a photoelectric tube or photoelectric multiplier having potassium bromide or cesium iodide photoelectric surface with wavelength selectivity. The output from the converter 7 is applied through a logarithmic converter 10 to a recorder 11.
